Frequently asked questions
Is this a diagnosis?
No. The report is a scientifically informed orientation about biological patterns – not a diagnosis, not a therapy, not a promise of a cure. It does not replace medical treatment.
Do I need a doctor for this?
Yes. In Germany, genetic testing is physician-ordered (GenDG). The medical consultation and the order are included in the price and part of the process.
What happens to my data?
Hosting and processing in Germany (GDPR Art. 9). Lab and analysis work pseudonymously – without your name. The analysis runs as a PrecisionLife analysis appliance on German servers: your genetic data does not leave Germany, and PrecisionLife as a company receives no patient data. Physician-ordered genetic findings are subject to the statutory retention period (§ 630f German Civil Code).
How long does it take?
Several weeks – shipping, sample return, sequencing, analysis and medical release all take time. You are informed at every step.
From what age is this possible?
The test is for adults aged 18 and over. For minors, special rules apply under the Genetic Diagnostics Act (GenDG) (consent, genetic counselling) – please ask in advance; we review each case medically.
Does this also apply to Austria and Switzerland?
The offering is initially designed for Germany (law, physician order, data processing in DE). For Austria and Switzerland, implementation is in preparation – write to us if you are in AT/CH.
Who is the report for — and who not?
Suitable for adults with Long COVID or ME/CFS who want to make better biological sense of their symptoms. Less suitable if you need acute emergency assessment or expect a certain diagnosis or cure — the report deliberately does not provide that.
What if my result is not pronounced?
An unremarkable pattern does not mean your symptoms are not real. It only means the genetic mechanisms assessed are less prominent in your case. Even then, the report helps sort other explanations and next medical steps.
Can I stop before any costs arise?
Yes. No costs arise with the request — the medical consultation comes first. Only afterwards do you decide whether you really want the report.
